Bone fracture refers to any crack or breakage of the bones. It is extremely painful and the affected area is usually swollen. Doctors usually recommend various medicines for the same. Apart from doctor’s treatment there are certain home remedies which if followed regularly helps in healing the bone fracture. Although it a slow process and may take some time but it is effective and natural way of healing.
Below Are Few Home Remedies For Bone Fracture:
Take 2-3 ice cubes and wrap it in a clean cloth. Apply the ice on the affected area for 10 minutes to get relief from the pain and it also reduces swelling. Repeat this process for 3-4 times in a day for best result. You can also rub an ice cube on the affected area for 5-10 minutes for relief from pain and swelling.
Pineapples are a rich source of enzyme Bromelain which reduces swelling and infection in case of bone fracture. Take a fresh pineapple and cut it into slices. Regularly eat pineapples till the fracture is completely healed. However eat fresh pineapples only. Avoid canned pineapple juice or processed pineapples.
Calcium and phosphorous form an important ingredient of bones and hence it is important to eat calcium rich food. Milk is a whole food and is a rich source of calcium. Drink at least 2 glasses of milk daily till the bone fracture is healed. The calcium present in the milk helps in building the fractured bones. Also you can include dairy products such as cheese, butter, curd etc in your diet.
Mustard oil has anti-inflammatory and bone strengthening properties. In a container take mustard oil and warm it. Massage this warm oil in the affected area. The heat produced from the mustard oil helps in reducing the pain and heals bone fracture. Repeat this process 2-3 times in a day for faster healing.
Garlic is well known for its medicinal properties. Basically it acts as an antiseptic and is anti-inflammatory in nature. Take 5-6 garlic cloves and add it to mustard oil. Warm the mix and add a pinch of turmeric to it. Soak a cloth in this poultice and tie it around the fractured bone for 1-2 days. This provides great relief from the pain and heals the fractured bone. Also you can warm water in a container and add crushed garlic to it. Apply this lotion on the affected area 3-4 times in a day for quick healing.
Turmeric has various medicinal and anti-inflammatory properties. It is useful in healing bone fracture. Take 1 onion and blend it. Add 2 teaspoon of mustard oil and 1 teaspoon of turmeric to it. Make a smooth paste and heat this mixture for 15-20 minutes. Apply this mixture on the affected area and wrap it with a cotton cloth. This reduces pain as well as heals the fracture.
Vitamin C Food
It is important to regularly consume food rich in vitamin C. Eat plenty of oranges, strawberries etc. and drink a glass of lemon juice every day till the fracture is completely healed. Vitamin C helps in the formation of collagen which builds healthy bones. You can prepare a bowl of fruit salad and eat it on a daily basis. You can season the salads with a few drops of lime juice for faster healing.
Fish is a rich source of phosphorous as well as fatty acid. It is advisable to include fish in your diet as phosphorous builds bones and the fatty acid present helps to absorb the calcium content. Consume fish 2-3 times in a week. You can also include walnuts, flax seeds, sesame seeds etc. in your diet which is rich in fatty acid. You should include these foods in your diet in small quantity which is helpful in bone fracture.
Green vegetables such as cabbage, broccoli, sprouts, spinach is rich in fibre and have a high content of Vitamins which are helpful in healing the bone fracture. You can also prepare cabbage poultice and apply it on the affected area at least once in a day for faster recovery. Hence it is important to include some quantity of green leafy vegetables in your diet for quick healing.
Milk And Turmeric
Milk is rich in calcium whereas turmeric has medicinal and anti-inflammatory properties. Add a pinch of turmeric to warm milk and drink it at least twice in a day. It reduces the pain as well as helps in healing the bone fracture. Regularly follow this process till the bone fracture is completely healed.
