Home Remedies For Fibroids

Fibroids are tumours that grow on the muscle layer of the uterus. They are benign or non-cancerous and are very common in women, especially in women between the age of 30 to 40 and it seems to be even more common in women with a dark complexion. Overweight and obese women suffer from a higher risk of having fibroids as compared to normal women. Fibroids can vary in size, from tiny ones not bigger than a bean to large ones that are nearly as big as a melon.

Fibroids usually are symptomless and this is the reason why most women do not realize they have fibroids. However, some common symptoms that suggest the presence of fibroids include heavy periods that can lead to anaemia, constipation, backache, increased rectal pressure and frequent urination, painful periods, pain in the legs, swelling in the lower abdomen (noticeable in cases where the fibroids are large), fertility and pregnancy problems and even miscarriages.

Fibroids are hormone dependent. As fibroids are responsive to changes in Estrogen levels, maintaining a steady Estrogen balance in your body can be the key to controlling and inhibiting the presence of these fibroids. It is also important to promote a good circulation and perform regular detoxification to the tissues of the uterus in order to keep excessive bleeding and pain during menstruation in check. Usually the symptomless fibroids are left untreated. In cases where the woman is diagnosed with fibroids, if they do not cause pain or interruptions in her daily life, they are left untreated. The fibroids persist usually until the woman reaches menopause, after which they shrivel down and disappear. The usual treatment for fibroids involves the use of medication.
