The term Milia is also used for referring to milk spots. These are like little white or yellowish bumps which occur near the areas of the eyes. They sometimes happen under the eyes but can spread to other parts of the face too. They are keratin-filled cysts, which are not really harmful. It is seen most commonly in babies and goes away in some weeks, but it can happen in adults too when it tends to stay along for years.
So Here Are Some Home Remedies For The Same:
This is one of the best home remedies available for the problem. You just have to make sure that you get a steaming machine or use steam from a vessel or bowl. Cover the face with a towel to prevent the steam from getting out. Then once the milia is softer, you just have to rub it gently with either a towel or even cotton ball to take it out. Do this 2 times a day for 1 week to see changes.
It may sound strange but a home facial could be the perfect trick for getting rid of the stubborn milia. A home facial includes a good massage, followed by some exfoliating agent and of course a hot facial sauna. The combination of these three techniques helps the milia fall of naturally without much fuss.
Apply some honey on the area, twice a day. Doing so helps the milia to fall off without much trouble. It has also been seen that applying honey on the area prevents the same from coming back very fast. You can also mix up some honey with jojoba oil and massage the area well and then wipe gently with a cloth to get rid of the milia.
Peel Off Mask
Make your own DIY peel off mask using some egg whites, a spoon of gelatin and some honey and orange juice. The combination of the honey with orange juice works on the acidity, which breaks down the milia. Egg whites and gelatin help in peeling off the same. Mix ingredients well enough so that the gelatin dissolves well. Let it dry and then peel off the mask.
Apply some hot castor oil on the milia. You can also mix it up with some warm coconut oil and then massage the face well. Doing so helps to get rid of the milia from the roots. It melts the keratin deposits here and thus allows the milia to come off much faster than anticipated.
This is an amazing pack for getting rid of Milia. Basically you need to take the seeds of pomegranate and roast them well. It is rich in antioxidant and exfoliating properties along with being high on vitamin C too. Take a non-stick pan and then roast the seeds of the fruit. Once they are dry, take them off the heat and crush them well. You can add some rose water to it along with lemon juice. The duo helps in balancing acidity for getting rid of the keratin deposit. Apply on face and leave for 20 minutes before rinsing.
Almond Scrub And Rice Flour Scrub
This is a gentle scrub that is known for healing the milia and also getting rid of it the natural way. For this pack, mix together 2 spoons each of coarse almond meal combined with coarse rice flour. Add some rose water to make a thick paste. Then scrub the face using this mixture every day. Do the same for a week and see the visible results.
Honey And Brown Sugar Scrub
Make a scrub by mixing together 2-3 spoons of brown sugar, one spoon honey and few drops of lime juice. The lime juice has acidity to cut the milia while the brown sugar granules help in natural exfoliation. The honey soothes the area and prevents bleeding. Scrub for about 10-15 minutes daily to get rid of the scrub.
Take 2 spoons of sandalwood of paste and then mix it up with some rose water or even cucumber juice. The sandalwood has soothing properties that breaks down the keratin content in the milia. It also soothes the area while getting rid of the same.
Aloe Vera And Turmeric
Heat a spoon of aloe vera gel combined with a pinch of turmeric. Apply while warm on the area. The turmeric helps the milia to fall off while the aloe vera aids in healing the skin. Do once at night for a week.
Take one drop of warm mustard oil and apply on the Milia. No need to massage. Just let the same stay overnight. In the morning take warm water and rub the area. Do this 2-3 days to get rid of the same.
Make a paste out of 2-3 cloves and keep applying on that area 2-3 times a day. Doing so dissolves the keratin in the milia and gets rid of it. The clove paste might just sting a bit so avoid putting very close to the eyes.
