irregular menstruation is commonly seen in women. It can be absences of menses, excess blood loss in menses, painful menses, irregular menses, and menopausal syndromes etc. This disturbance gives great discomfort to women.
Menses are the condition controlled by endocrinal system of the body. Hormones are the major contributor in normal menstrual cycle. Disturbances in secretions of hormones may lead to disturbed menses, leading to problem to women.
Generally pelvic area lower abdomen thighs and back become tensed and may be painful during any disturbances in menses.
Ayurveda has also mentioned much about these diseases. These are classified into artav (menstrual) related disease like kasht artav (dysmenorrhea) etc. This disease occurs due to imbalance in vata specially disturbance in Apaan Vayu (a sub unit of vata), though all the three doshas contribute in causing this ailment

- Proper balanced diet should be taken
- Spicy and heavy food should totally be avoided
- Morning evening walk should be regularized
- Proper rest should be taken
- Proper sleep of about 6-8 hours is very essential
- Avoid sleeping in day time
- Shed of extra weight
- Carrot seeds mixed with saunth (dried ginger) is very effective home remedy for irregular menstruation treatment.
- Ashok (Sraca asoka) bark powder 5 grams taken twice daily with milk is very effective and is highly recommended.
- Garlic mixed with honey is very useful
- Supari (Areca catechu) mixed with gulukand (rose petal in sugar) gives good results in irregular menstruation treatment .
- Guggulu (Commiphora mukul), giloye (Tinospora cordifolia) and shilajit mixture is also beneficial
- Shatavari (Asparagus racemosus) mixed with ashwagandha (withania somnifera) has great potency in treating menstrual disturbance.
